Are you passionate about black and white photography, but don’t know where to start?
Join us for this hands-on small-group workshop where you will learn:
- how to see the world around you in black & white
- the importance and quality of light, shadows, highlights and contrast
- to understand tonal range, using the “Zone System”, developed by Ansel Adams
- how to process your images so they convey your photographic vision
Participant skills and requirements:
Skills – Participants are expected to have an intermediate understanding of their cameras and photography – for example, participants are expected to understand aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, etc.
Equipment – participants are welcome to bring their whole kit bag – ideally this should include one lens that has a polariser filter. Up to 20 of your existing favourite images in colour on usb covering a range of subject matters.

A: No. We do ask you have a basic understanding of aperture, shutter, ISO and how they all work together.
