Heron Island Research Station Photo Shoot

April 29th – May 2nd 2016

Bluedog Photography has have been invited to work with the scientists and staff at the Heron Island Research Station from the 27th-30th March 2015.

Learn to do hero images, nature and landscape photography, buildings and people and if the weather is nice night landscapes, and depending on the moon cycle star trails, moon lit seascapes and much more accompanying the Bluedog tutors on this specially designed tour. We will be teaching you how to do this! This tour is designed to push you as a photographer to capture stunning images – those that you have always wanted. It’s 10 workshops in 1!

We are able to take with us a limited number of photographers. This is a very special occasion that we are able to share and a fabulous opportunity to work with us on a shoot in an amazing destination while refining photography skills and discovering the wonderful work they are doing on the island.

Conditions will apply and there will be a cost to participate, however many expenses such as transfers to the island, accommodation, use of computer lab and others will be included. If you wish to bring your families, you will need to make arrangements for their accommodation at the Heron Island Resort (at own cost).

Inclusions
• Bus transfers to and from Gladstone airport to Marina
• Catamaran transfers to and from Heron Island
• Accommodation for the photographers only (see above for families) for 3 nights at the Research Station. Please note accommodation will be in self-catering multi-bedroom houses and may include some bunk beds. *
• Meals at the Research Station
• Snorkelling equipment
• A computer lab will be provided however we do ask you bring your own computer and back up for image preparation.

*Participants will need to share rooms, and Bluedog will do their best to ensure rooming arrangements are made with care and courtesy. We ask that participants have a degree of flexibility in this regard.

Exclusions
• Transport to and from Gladstone
• Boat costs for private outings during the day from the island – there may be boat excursions as we usually have that are included.

Pre Requisites and Gear
A sound knowledge of your camera and the basics of photography. You will be photographing researchers, students, scientific equipment, station infrastructure, flora and fauna and will be expected to shoot to a brief.
Digital DSLR, tripod, external flash, polarising filter, laptop for processing and back up of images, USB for transfer of images.

Conditions
Participants will be required to shoot in both RAW and jpeg formats.
Participants will be required to shoot within the University of Queensland’s Photography Guidelines which will be made available on request for those who submit an expression of interest.
Participants will allow Heron Island Research Station the use of their images for any marketing or promotional needs. Participants retain the copyright to their images and may use them however they wish.
