Photo News:
To say the last couple of months have been busy is an understatement!

Some of the team at Bluedog travelled through Queensland's outback on a three week photo shoot which yielded many fabulous images of this scenic part of Australia. The Bluedog team travelled in luxury on Queensland Rail's Traveltrain, "The Spirit of the Outback" - even the Discovery was loaded on the train - from Brisbane to Longreach. For anyone looking for a terrific way to get into the outback, this is one option well worth looking at.

From Longreach, we visited Muttaburra, Winton, found opal at Opalton, saw the 'Min Min Light' at Boulia and believe it or not, got rained in at Birdsville! We made many new friends and visited old ones such as Bomber at the historic Burke & Wills Dig Tree.

From the outback, it was to the sea, and Australia's 'Banana Capital', Coffs Harbour, New South Wales and the start of two exciting projects which will be announced soon.

For the end of the financial year, we are pleased to announce a limited special offer for registration for the Bluedog Rewards Programme. Register and pay for 4 workshops and receive your 5th workshop at half price!

Photo Tip:
What makes a great landscape image?

One of the most important factors is composition. Compose your image correctly and you are half way there. Get to know the principles of composition - once you can master them, you can break them!

Photo Trivia: Did You know?

Arnold Newman (3 March 1918, New York, NY — 6 June 2006, New York, NY) is recognised as the Master of Environmental Portraiture.

He photographed many famous personalities — Marlene Dietrich, John F. Kennedy, Harry S. Truman, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, Arthur Miller, Marilyn Monroe, Ronald Reagan and Mickey Mantle — and always maintained that even if the subject is not known, or is already forgotten, the photograph itself must still excite and interest the viewer.

He was commissioned by The Sunday Times to photograph 75 leading British personalities for NPG exhibition, The Great British (1979) of which this image of T. William Armstrong, 1st Baron Armstrong of Sanderstead by Arnold Newman bromide print, 1978, is from.

Arnold once asked Danielle, a director of Bluedog, while on a shoot, "What is available light? We know you need it to make a great image, but what is it? He answered, "Anything I can get my #@**#@ hands on."
