Trivia: Did You know? He photographed many famous personalities — Marlene Dietrich, John F. Kennedy, Harry S. Truman, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso, Arthur Miller, Marilyn Monroe, Ronald Reagan and Mickey Mantle — and always maintained that even if the subject is not known, or is already forgotten, the photograph itself must still excite and interest the viewer. He was commissioned by The Sunday Times to photograph 75 leading British personalities for NPG exhibition, The Great British (1979) of which this image of T. William Armstrong, 1st Baron Armstrong of Sanderstead by Arnold Newman bromide print, 1978, is from. Arnold once asked Danielle, a director of Bluedog, while on a shoot, "What is available light? We know you need it to make a great image, but what is it? He answered, "Anything I can get my #@**#@ hands on."
