A Happy New Year to All!

We hope you have had a safe and happy festive season! We have heard that Santa has been very kind to many of the shutterbugs amongst us - there must have been some very good people last year.

Now for the year ahead: Our first round of workshops commence in February - check out the dates below as limited numbers still exist for some of the workshops. We are also now running One-On-One classes with understanding your digital camera and Photoshop the first to be offered - more will be following as the year progresses. Please if you have any questions - just ask. We have also had some requests for a mothers and general photography day once a month - mothers can bring their children along. If you are interested in either of these suggestions please let us know, as if there is enough interest we will try and organise this for you.

We continue to love your feedback - so keep it coming. Due to many of you asking for an extension of the Photo Competition - Massage/ Day Spa - due to a busy social schedule during the past month (lucky things!), we are happy to confirm this will now be open till the 1st March 07. Please see below for details.

This newsletter is designed specifically for you, to be yours, so please enjoy!

Here's to a wonderful 2007!

Photo News:
Incredible Injune Workshop:
In December we travelled to Injune to conduct three days of workshops and what a great time it was. The weather was warm-ish and the spirits high. Overall it was a wonderful fun-filled weekend of learning and making new friends.

The photography class was huge - 16 participants.
We look forward to seeing some fantastic work in the near future!

"The workshops were great and of course word has spread so I have had people asking
when the next one will be!!

You are a wonderful 'teacher' Danielle, not a skill everyone has," Puddy Chandler.

What's On: Exhibitions

l Sights Unseen: Michael Riley - One of Australia’s most important Indigenous visual artists. In his short lifetime, artist Michael Riley left a strong and enduring impression. Riley challenged Australia’s perception of Indigenous culture, giving a voice to the disenfranchised communities of rural and remote eastern Australia and, in doing so, established himself at the forefront of international contemporary art.
Cost: Free
Venue: National Gallery of Australia, Parkes Place Parkes ACT 2600
Date/s: Finishes 27.04.2008

l Olaf Breuning - Home
A master of the constructed scenario, Olaf Breuning's videos, photographs and installations draw liberally from advertising, movies, television and music videos. He dishes up a glam-trash fantasy world, an archive of alternative realities. Equally enamoured with the heavy metal and the new age, historical costume drama and serial killer splatter, the courtly and the degenerate, he cultivates bizarre intersections of reality and fantasy in which pop culture's interlocking clichés are amplified and exploded.

Venue: ACP 257 Oxford Street Paddington NSW Dates: Friday 2 March to Saturday 14 April 2007 Tue - Fri: 12.00 - 7.00pm, Sat & Sun 10.00am - 6.00pm Galleries One and Two.
Admission: Free

Photo Tip:

Isolate your subject............
Using a wide aperture (small f-stop number) will result in a shallower depth of field - ideal for blurring the foreground or background and therefor isolating your subject.

Remember if you are working in manual with every aperture change you must also make a change in your shutter speed to maintain correct exposure.
