photography courses, workshops, tuition, retreats and tours
Have a question? Find the answer here.
Q. Do I need to own a digital SLR camera and tripod to attend a workshop or retreat?
A. No we have a limited number of digital SLR cameras available forloan.
For beginner workshops these are free. For the retreats there is a $100.00 loan fee
to assist us with cleaning costs.
We have a range of tripods we loan for free for all of our programs.
Many find this beneficail especially before they make the big plunge to buy.
Like a try before you buy.
Q. Do I have had to have attended you beginner workshop to attend others?
A. No. Our program is designed for all levels and if you are unsure please email us or
phone and we will be happy to discuss.
For a full outline of courses visit Photography Courses Overview or the Calendar
of upcoming events for more information.
Q. Where are your workshops held?
A. Most of our workshops are held at our studio on Tamborine Mountain
plus we run workshops in Brisbane, on the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast plus
travel to regional areas.
Tamborine Mountain is located in the Gold Caost hinterland, 25km from
Surfers Paradise and 70km from Brisbane.
Q. During the workshop do we get to use our cameras or is it just theory based?
A. Yes!! Each workshops has a theory section followed by a practical.
The location for the practical varies depending on what workshop is being held.
Some of the pracs are done at the studio, others we go out to places such as
the Botanic Gardens but in every workshop you get to play!
Q. I'm interested in buying a voucher but am unsure what level the person is at.
What do I do?
A. You many purchase a gift voucher for a dollar amount and after you give the gift
the person we can ring us and we can chat about what level they are at and choose something suitable for them. That way no one is wasting valuable time and money!
Q. Do I need to pay when I register?
A.. Yes. Payment is required which confirms your place as courses are very small
in numbers.
We send a tax invoice with all the details on registration.
Q. What if I have to cancel?
A. We all have dramas in our lives and we understand that. If the workshop is full and has been advertised as full we will try and fill that if we can for you and then you may reschedule for a time that suits you. We do not refund for no shows or early departures.
Q. Saturday workshops tend to book up fairly fast but these are the only days that I can attend, is there some way you can help me?
A. Yes! We do keep a waiting list for Saturdays in case someone has a drama as above. Other than that, perhaps take a RDO, "mental health day" or do you have time in lieu and then come on a week day?
Q. Do I get any notes to take home?
A. Yes! Nearly all the workshop have notes provided for you to take home.
Q. I am interested in your retreats. Is accommodation included in the price?
A. No accommodation is not included though we are happy to recommend
accommodation options on the mountain to suit your budget and style.
We also have a About Tamborine page that you may find helpful.
Q. Can my partner come along to the retreat?
A. Your partner is welcome to join us at dinner and for many of the activities such as the sunset shoot. If we are going to any particular venues or attractions that they would like to come to with you they only have to pay admission. If we need to pay this before the retreat to confirm the venue then we do ask you to let us know and pay before hand.
Q. I see your testimonial page which sounds great but I'd like to chat with someone to see if they did enjoy your program. Can I do this?
A. Yes we do have some people who are happy for you to ring them and chat. For obvious reasons these phone numbers are not displayed on the web site. For more information please email us.
Q. How many people are in a workshop?
A. All of our workshops are kept small e.g. Our beginner workshop is a max of 7 participants and 2 professional tutors. This ensures you receive individual attention, the maximum benefit and all your questions
are answered.
Q. Are the tutors trained photographers?
A. YES! All our tutors are working professional photographers. The workshop program is lead by Danielle Lancaster who continues to work as a professional photographer and journalist for clients such as 4x4 Australia, RACQ Road Ahead, Tourism Queensland and others. Our working base of tutors ensures you receive up to date and appropriate knowledge in the fields.
You can read more about your tutors here: About
your tutors
Q. I forgot to order my gift voucher and the birthday is tomorrow. Is it too late?
A. No if we are here and able to design it for you we can email you the voucher or just do one yourself and let us know - we'll then organise the paperwork for you.
There are never any problems, only solutions!
Q. How often is your calendar updated on your workshops page?
A. Weekly and sometimes daily!
Q. Can I bring my children to the Parents, Bubs & Cameras?
A. Yes! This is what the sesison is for. Many are not able leave their children so these informal sessions are designed for you to bring them along - they are though your responsibility and not that of the tutor!
