Hong Kong Adventure Sample Itinerary
Day 1
Depart Australia and arrive in Hong Kong that evening
Included: Transfers form the airport
Day 2 - Chinese New Year's Eve
We’ll meet for breakfast and go over the itinerary plus some tips and tricks for shopping and getting around in HK.
After this we'll head over on the underground rail system to Mongkok, the famous Markets area and also to the electronics hub. An opportunity for anyone wanting to pick up camera gear for their kit etc.
We’ll head back to the hotel in Wan Chai when you feel you have either exhausted your energy or budget!
This evening we'll head to the interesting area of Soho for a night shoot. Homes sit above shops and bars faces can often be seen peering into the street below. See the colour and spectacle of this area with its windy laneways rising up over hills, blending Eastern and Western culture.
Included: Breakfast, transfers to and from Mongkok.
Day 3 - New Year's Day
We’ll start the morning with a walk through the oasis that is Hong Kong Park. This pearl of nature set in a city of high rises is a blend of architecture, water features, flora and fauna. Observe locals gathering in the gardens for Tai Chi. The Gardens also hosts many spectacular displays during Chinese New Year.
After the gardens head to a local restaurant to experience the tastes, sounds and sights of Yum Cha, which literally translated means drinking tea, and involves sharing a range of dim sum, brought around on a cart in bamboo steamers for you to select from.
Early evening we'll head over to see the New Year Parade in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Day 4
In the morning we’ll head off to the Lower Terminus to take the Peak Tram. Pulled by steel cables, the tram rises from 18 metres to 396 metres (about 1,300 feet) above sea level. After viewing the 360o views of Hong Kong and discovering this area of The Peak, we'll head to the ocean side area of Stanley where we'll stop for a delicious lunch and then explore the interesting markets and local sights.
The afternoon is free for you until we gather again in the early evening and head to Victoria Harbour to view the New Year fireworks and lightshow. Make sure you have your cable release ready for this one! ... don’t forget the Chinese invented fireworks.

Day 5
Travel out early to the Flower and Bird Markets. New Year is a busy time at these markets awash with colour and characters. After this we'll head off to Lantau Island and visit the Giant Buddha at Po Lin Monastery. The Tian Tin Buddha which sits serenely atop Ngong Ping plateau amid the spectacular mountain scenery is the world's tallest, outdoor, seated bronze Buddha. We’ll enjoy a tasty vegetarian lunch at the Monastery
Meet up for crit session of images in the evening.

Day 6
Free day to catch your breath or do some last minute shopping before heading home in the evening.
Included: Breakfast, Transfer to airport
Bluedog reserve the right to adjust the itinerary should there be a need to. Transfers are via public transport and taxis. Participants are expected to have their own travel insurance. Being a very busy time with lots going on, you will need to remain vigilant and alert to your surroundings. Part of why we are going as a small group.

Where we are staying:
Wan Chai is a place of contrast.
The new infrastructure on the waterfront, such as the Golden Bauhinia Square, Convention and Exhibition Centre and Central Plaza blend with the residential areas and older buildings scattered around Hennesy Rd and Johnston Rd where you will also find trams.
What's Included:
Airfares, single room accommodation, transfers to and from hotel to airport,

Shopping in Hong Kong:
It can be exciting, but we urge you to take all due care to ensure you make sound decisions before purchasing. We will let you know where tutors have purchased equipment previously without any issues. Always ask to fit a lens to the camera to test it first. Make yourself familiar with the price you would pay for the same item at home or through on online retailer.
What to Bring:
Camera, tripod, batteries and charger, off camera flash if you have one, memory cards, safe backpack/ front pack for walking around the city, comfortable walking shoes, a sense of adventure and respect for cultural and spiritual festivals. Try to travel light coming over if you plan to go shopping!
